I lørdags havde Morten Albæk et indlæg i Politiken (Politiken, 29. april 2006), hvor han angriber regeringens "Hvad skal Danmark leve af"-udspil. Jeg bliver nødt til at give ham ret i hans kritikpunkter til planen, og alligevel kommentere det. Regeringens forslag går jo i det hele taget ud på at få de unge hurtigt gennem uddannelserne. Her er det så jeg mener at regeringen er ude af trit med virkeligheden.
Jeg kan godt forstå regeringens behov for at forholde sig til de tørre tal; hvor meget kan Danmark tjene på et mere effektivt uddannelsessystem. Det er jo dejligt nemt med sådan nogle målbare parametre. Straks værre bliver det jo når man skal forholde sig til det pædagogiske, uddannelsernes opdragende rolle og de mere bløde og diffuse parametre. Men når jeg mener at regeringen er ude af trit med virkeligheden, er det fordi jeg mener at dagens (og fremtidens) unge mennesker ikke tænker på denne måde. Hvilken ung uddannelsessøgende i dag overvejer hvad der bedst tjener de nationale interesser og den danske økonomi, når de vælger uddannelse. Måske kigger de en smule på fremtidige beskæftigelsesmuligheder, men vi ved jo at unge mennesker hovedsageligt tænker på hvad de interesserer sig for, og på hvad de kan tænke sig at beskæftige sig med i fremtiden. Og så regner de med at så længe de interessemæssigt kan stå inde for sit valg, går det nok alt sammen. At dette også kan være en lille smule naiv måde at vælge uddannelse på, vil jeg da også give kritikere ret i. Men det er altså svært at forudse beskæftigelsessituationen 5 år frem i tiden. Ikke mindst for en gymnasieelev.
Men i hvert fald - hurtigt ind og hurtigt ud af uddannelserne er regeringens mål. De har bare ikke taget højde for at unge mennesker, ikke mindst danske unge mennesker, ikke gider at slæbe sig gennem 5 år på en videregående uddannelse. De vil have tid til at fjumre og tænke store og kreative tanker - i hvert fald de kreative og innovative unge, som jo er dem vi skal leve af i fremtiden - også ifølge regeringen. De gider simpelt hen ikke sidde med næsen i en bog i 5 år. De vil have fleksibilitet, ligesom de vil have det når de engang kommer ud på arbejdsmarkedet. Og ligesom deres fremtidige arbejdsgivere forlanger af dem når de engang (forhåbentlig!) kommer ud på arbejdsmarkedet. Hvis man kun skal bruge den normerede tid på et universitetsstudium, er der ikke tid til ret meget andet end at pløje gennem pensum, og ellers stole på at underviserne fortæller sandheden. Selvstændig tænkning og kritisk refleksion bliver en by i Rusland. Og jeg ved hvad jeg taler om; jeg har selv brugt den normerede tid på mit studie, men kan nu i eftertid ønske at jeg tog mig lidt bedre tid og tænkte lidt større tanker.
Men denne evne til refleksion er samtidigt det der i internationale undersøgelser fremhæver unge mennesker i Danmark. Og det er denne evne, og det mangfold, frisind og den tolerance det fører med sig, som er med til at skabe disse innovative og kreative mennesker, som vi jo skal leve af. Og netop disse egenskaber vil i fremtiden blive centrale, i og med at globaliseringen virkelig tager fart. Og netop at kunne navigere, tage stilling og se muligheder og sortere information bliver uundværlige kompetencer. Dette er også kompetencer som fremtidens (og for så vidt også dagens) arbejdsgivere vil efterspørge. Men det er svært at opnå disse kvalifikationer hvis man har siddet med næsen i en bog i 5 år. Jeg må sige at jeg i det store og hele er en lille smule overrasket over regeringens strategi. Overrasket fordi jeg havde troet at vores undervisningsminister, som jo har rødder i Grundtvig og højskolebevægelsen, netop ville være fortaler for ovennævnte værdier.
Jeg ved godt at mit indlæg er en smule ensidigt; ligesom regeringen har problemer med at forholde sig til de bløde værdier, har jeg problemer med at forholde mig til tørre tal. Det der bare bekymrer mig med regeringens udspil er hvilken type medarbejdere vi vil få i fremtiden, og hvordan disse så kan honorere de krav som arbejdsmarkedet kommer til at stille. Og hvad sker med de traditionelle danske værdier, vi jo er kendt for, og de områder hvor vi virkelig kan hævde os i sammenligninger internationalt? I disse tider er der jo meget snak om man skal find sin niche - finde ud af hvad det er der gør en attraktiv og speciel for andre, og så gå ud og sælge sig selv på netop dette. Og jeg tror at netop disse demokratiske værdier, som fx evnen til selvstændig tænkning, værdsættelse af mangfoldighed, tolerance og frisind, er noget af det der udgør Danmarks niche i forhold til resten af verden. Det er her Danmark, og til en vis også andre nordiske lande, adskiller sig fra resten af verden, og det er her vi skal gøre os gældende på verdensplan.

Jeg er i gang med konklusionen i en eksamens opgave som skal afleveres nu på tirsdag. Og falder over det ovenstående som præcist forklare min pointe. Jeg kunne altså ikke selv have udtrykt det bedre, derfor spørger jeg hvilken person kan jeg referere til i opgaven når jeg nu om lidt kopier et par linier??
